Overview of Role:
The CAD Technician (Journeyman) is responsible for developing and maintaining technical network diagrams, floor plans, and infrastructure drawings to support Department of Defense network modernization and operations programs. This role produces network topology diagrams in compliance with established standards, creates detailed floor plans and cable routing drawings, develops as-built structured cabling documentation, and maintains current IP and VLAN plans. The technician prepares deliverables for site surveys and formal design documentation, updates diagrams to reflect network changes, and collaborates with network architects and engineers to ensure technical accuracy across all project drawings
Roles and Responsibilities:
Develops and maintains technical network diagrams, floor plans, and infrastructure drawings for DoD network modernization and operations programs. Produces network topology diagrams in accordance with DoDAF OV-1/OV-2 and SV-1/SV-2 standards; creates floor plan and cable tray routing drawings for each installation; develops as-built structured cabling documentation; maintains current IP and VLAN plan diagrams; produces site survey drawing deliverables; updates diagrams as network changes are implemented; provides required drawing packages for formal design documentation; and coordinates with network architects and OSP engineers to ensure technical accuracy across all drawings.
Educational and Certification Requirement:
3 to 10 years’ experience and a B.A./B.S.
AutoCAD or Visio proficiency; network/structured cabling diagramming; DoDAF diagramming experience
Must have an Active Secret Clearance
